Search tool not working

Hi there,
I can't figure out the search tool and what I'm missing.

My site is www.merchantsofvino.com/winestore

If I do a search for white, I get reds thrown in the results. If I search for Chardonnay it says it isn't there, even though Chardonnay is in the title and description of at least 1 wine.

Can anyone tell me what is missing coz I'm just completely flummuxed and it's driving me nuts!!

You have white in your keywords ... is that a manual keyword on:
Bordeaux Rouge 2006 (£8.99 per bottle)

aha! Thank you! Can you tell me how I edit key words for individual products?

I found where I can add meta-tags. Is it better to remove those tags? I tried putting in Chardonnay in all 3 fields, and then did a search for Chardonnay, but it still didn't find it?

On the right side of the Product listing in your admin you will see the biohazard icon ...

If it is black, you do NOT have a custom meta tag set ...

If it is orange, then you DO have a custom meta tag set ...

is there some global place I might have been able to enter them?

I don't know if you put them there ... I am suggesting that this could be a reason why the red wine is coming up on the white ...

Go to your Catalog ... Categories/Products and find this product (products_id=53):
Bordeaux Rouge 2006 (£8.99 per bottle)

Do you see on the right side panel the black or orange biohazard symbol on this product?

The biohazard icon is black. I've been through all the products and categories and they are all black. Is there somewhere else I could have put these keywords in? I do vaguely remember typing them in when I first was setting up and very much feeling my way around and not realising the implications..... but can I remember where

OK, I think I've rediscovered the file where I added keywords. it was includes/templates/template_default/common/html_header.php
I've now taken out white and red.

I think I've also discovered why a search on white throws up a red, it's because "red" appears in the description.

However if I search for a wine by wine name, it says it's not there. For example there are 2 wines with Chardonnay in the description one of which is titled Chardonnay, yet when I search for Chardonnay, it doesn't find them.

Any further suggestions?

Switch to the Classic Template ... does the search work?

I can find:
hard

but not:
chard
