change image size in center colum

Hi,

My store opens up to show a list images of all the categories.

I would like this to be only one picture wide instead of the present 3 pictures. And set that picture at 650px. Like a list of banners - same ones I have across the top of the categories.

I believe everything you want to do is inside your admin/configuration. Start with Images, Maximum Values, and Index Listing. It takes a while to figure out what does what, just playing around with it will teach you a lot.

The admin is huge and can seem daunting at first, but once you come familar with it, there is an awful lot you can do without a lot of effort.

Configuration > Images > Subcategory Image Width
Subcategory Image Height

I thought subcategories were categories inside another category.
Is there a lexicon for zen cart?

For purposes of this display, there is no difference between subcategories and top categories; they both use the same template file, and top cats can be thought of as subs of "Top" or category 0.

I finally realized that it was going to be too difficult to set it up as a style that would shrink and stretch to any size picture I put in there and I ended up doing this:

<img src="image-files/my-picture-here.jpg" width="200" height="150" alt="how to border an image" style="border:2px solid maroon; padding:2px">
</div>
Putting the code right into the html page and adjusting the width and height to the exact dimensions of the picture.
It may not be perfect...but it works and the images that I wanted centered and with a border (which is only some of them actually) are turning out fine.

hmm...how come when i adjust the Subcategory Image Width and Height to a larger size my image doesnt change at all...i tried different sizes and resolutions in photoshop to see if that was the issue but i get no changes...help

oops okay sorry i had to change Top Subcategory Image :)
