    Default Cannot Add Categories

    HI

    I am adding the categories in the the Admin. But when I save it no category appears.

    It takes me back to the home page instead of Categories page.

    I do not know what am I missing?

    regards
    Aditya

    I have changed the following parameters

    // Use secure webserver for catalog module and/or admin areas?
    define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true');
    define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'true');

    Then I am getting the following errors

    Secure Connection Failed

    An error occurred during a connection to mykrix.com.

    SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

    (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

    * Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

    Please help.

    thanks

    I do not know what's happening. Do we have to have the SSL for Admin section.

    With SSL it is not going anywhere?

    This is often caused by a mis-installation of the security patches.

    Have you applied these patches yet?

    Often caused when trying to use SSL on a site that hasn't been configured for it. You usually need to work with your webhost to set this up correctly.

    No.

    Unless you have set up SSL support with your webhost you should disable SSL for zencart.

    SSL is highly recommended though, but it is best to get basic functionality working first.

    I am reproducing some of the steps here:

    1. I am going to /admin URL
    2. I am entering my credentials
    3. I am able to loginto the Admin area
    4. I click 'New Category'
    5. I click save
    6. New category is not created and I am redirected back the home admin screen.

    This is critical for me to resolve. Please help.

    You shouldn't need to apply any patches to make zencart work (unless your webhost uses PHP5.3, but that produces different symptoms what you describe).

    The reason I mentioned the patches is because incorrectly applied they will produce the problem that you are describing. If you haven't applied them yet then your problem has a different cause.

    Cheers
