Painless Template Change suggestions?

Hi,

I've been running zencart with a custom template for the past 2 years now. It's about time I update this and use a different template.

As with everyone who has created a custom template, they know how much changes have been made in folders here and there to make the template features match the new modules put on the site.

My questions is, now that I want to use a new template, is there a painless way of moving various modules etal to the new template?

Would appreciate some advice from those who have had experience switching to new templates after sometime. THanks!!

If you current template uses the override system properly, you should be able to install/create the new template and copy those files which won't be changed over to the new folders.

yes that probably entails going through each and every folder for an incidence of my former template and copying over whatever is in it to the new one.

Also changes in css etal would have to be changed I suppose...

It's possible I misunderstood your question, but there are a limited number of places where overrides are possible. There's a chart here:

All the CSS changes would be in includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css

Thanks! I got the overwrite system chart which is a great guide. Now all I need to do is copy over what is on my old template to the new one.
