Default To much space in Blank Sideboxes

As it says in the title I have to much excess space above and below the text in the two Blank Sideboxes I have placed on my site.

See my signature for the URL.

Please tell me how to alter them so as to remove the blank space.

This is a brand new store and my first attempt so advice is always welcome.

The tpl_bvlank_sidebox.php files by default have <p> </p> tags in both content statements. Eliminate at least the unused set, or possibly both. You can modify the p element margins for those sideboxes in your stylesheet if you want to.

    #amsidebox p, #blanksidebox p {margin: 0.3em 0.5em;}

    Adjust to taste.

If you check the web site now you will see I have been able to remove the extra spaces from the bottom of the boxes but not the top.

    Any more ideas??

    Thanks.

Try installing Firefox and its Web Developer and Firebug extensions. They have lots of useful tools that will let you find what style rules apply to elements, the classes and ids to use in the stylesheet, and many other things.

I don't know where you edited styles, but the ones I suggested are not in any of the stylesheets active in your site. Check on where the edited files actually ended up. Applying the suggestion to your site in Web Developer's CSS > Edit CSS had the correct result.
You didn't remove the first set of <p> tags from the Customer Service file.

    I went to

    includes/templates/default_template/sideboxes/tpl_am_sidebox.php

I removed the second set of <p></P> comments.

I have no idea how to use the plugins for Fire Fox but will give them a try.

Easy. Install the Firefox browser and the Web Developer plugin for Firefox. You can use those to see where in the stylesheet you change the styling of the various page elements.

Ctrl-Shift-Y will allow you to hover over a section of the page and see the class and id names for that section in the box at the top. The statements in the stylesheet that begin with # are id's and the ones that begin with dots are classes.

Ctrl-Shift-E will open the CSS editor and allow you to edit the stylesheet and see the changes in real time without changing anything permanently. A very handy tool.
