Sales Reporting via affiliate tracking vs PayPal info?

Good Day all,

I have a small problem with sales reporting, I have followed all the instructions https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=399 and as such I get all my sales reported originating from bank deposit, cheque/money order etc. However all Paypal Sales do not record as a sale, in my reporting. Is there something Paypal is supposed to return that doesn't?

I remember years ago I had an issue with Paypal and I was told to un-install and re-install.

Any help would be appreciated.

Switch to using Express Checkout instead of Website Payments Standard/IPN, and that problem will go away.

I did as you suggested regarding this issue and so far it worked great for me. However in the last few days the issue is back and I am not seeing reports of sales when paid for by paypal using the express payment. (all other methods record the sale). Nothing has changed anywhere in paypal settings or zen cart admin...so I am assuming it is a paypal issue? I also posted another issue about account creation email not arriving when creating account through express c/o.....I don't know if the issue is related.
Sales and new orders come though with no problems.

Maybe those payments aren't *actually* happening via Express Checkout? Maybe some other module has been enabled?

Are you using the latest version of Zen Cart? As of today the latest is v1.3.9d.

When things "suddenly" stop working the way the did "before", you need to investigate what's changed in your site files/database, as well as the server, the hosting company, the external services you connect to like paypal or your hosting company's email services, etc.

Ok this is what I have found, two comparison engines are recording sales and they get their info from the same place as the sales channel analyser...All of which must be told by paypal thee sale is complete..just the latter is not recording it, which I think is a matter for me and them.

As a precaution I checked for changes to any of my files etc etc.all clean.

The other issue I was incurring was the paypal create account email when using express check out...

I contacted the hosting company and this is what they replied......

In this case it seems that PayPal has changed a policy. The other case is if you have to modify the configuration of your PayPal account in order to activate such notifications again. Our system does not block any kind of messages from PayPal.

Uhmmm not sure I believe this as everyone else on this forum would be posting something about create account email.....so what do you think Dr. Byte. Has policy changed, is there a setting I need to look at in Paypal? (which they have reset) PS I am on 138a I know upgrade best policy....but not in a position to do this site just yet.

If you're using Express Checkout then your system won't be dependent on receiving IPN notices to trigger emails etc. And that message you were given is almost certainly referring to IPN issues (cuz some people put invalid IPN URLs in their PayPal account, and PayPal disables IPN after a certain number of failures ... but that shouldn't be relevant since you're using EC).

Uhmm so still no ideas as to why no create account email.
Shame really EC also bypasses my How did You Hear about us and as such all those inputs are NONE.

Since I wrote that, I have noted the following (Removed Transaction info and surnames)

I noted that everything that has expresscheckout next to it is recorded in my sales analyzer, as well as Create Account email received. Through EC.

However everything else which has gone through Paypal (I only have EC enabled in my payment modules) comes up as Cart and no records or emails... I really don't get the alternate payment thing.
