Need to add extra field in admin for product notes, not sure which route to take...

Hello,

I need to add an extra field in admin so that I can put a little note about certain products, im thinking this field would be edited within the product details itself, but also to be listed next to the model column where the products are listed in admin.

Ive seen various ways of adding new fields etc, but could anyone advise an easier route to take with this, as it only needs to be listed in the admin section for reference.

Just thought id post incase someone has done something similar and could advise a good way to do this.

I can't think of any reason why someone would want such thing. But there are 2 options:

Option 1: You can use admin note advanced to add notes to certain products or categories or just general notes in the admin section.

Option 2: You can use the short desc module from the download and modify it to only work in the admin side.

Simple answer I would be surprised if you find a pre-made mod that does exactly what you are asking for without a lot of modification, or find a step by step guide on how to achieve this. It would take an hour to write it up.

Can't help you with the extra text showing up in the model column, but if all you want to do is add some text to a product that is only visible in admin, add it to the bottom of the product description, wrap it in a <div> with an id or class specified, and make that id or class display:none; in the stylesheet.
