Actually, the initial choice was gender - male/female. No "title" was included. The Mr./Ms. was added later to refine the male/female choice. The point is it started out as 2 choices and remains so.

I still think women who MUST have Mrs. as an option have problems which need to be addressed elsewhere. My marital status is not anyone's business.
