    I don't see how coupons have anything to do with this.

    As I said, the reason the downloads aren't available is because your FreeCharger module (which was used to complete the order) is set to "Pending" and not "Processing".
    (Or it's set to "Default" and your store's default is set to "Pending". Same difference.)

    I made the change and have tried Ajeh's recommendation and am still having no success.

    I have even tried a regular transaction without using a gift card and get this message.

    I have also noticed that the straight transaction I put through and received confirmation through paypal isn't showing up as a payment received.

    I don't know what is going on, yesterday I received orders, payments and customers could retrieve their downloads and last night my shop mysteriously went crazy.

    I even reset the payment module and verified that the information for paypal was correct.

    If you have the IPN module enabled but your orders aren't showing up in your admin area, then you've got a communication problem between PayPal's server and *your* server. Or maybe the PayPal server's disabled your IPN notifications option.

    Express Checkout doesn't rely on that same flakey communications issue that the IPN module does. Hence one of the main reasons for recommending you dump the IPN module and use Express Checkout instead.

    Is this problem only happening when a gift certificate is used? Is it only when a gift certificate pays for *part* of the order, but not *all* of the order?

    Have you got your site patched up to date with all the posted security fixes? Maybe something's "suddenly" gone wrong because something rogue has happened to your server?

    Maybe your hosting company changed something in their configurations to block communications from paypal from working properly?

    There's a myriad of things that could be outside of the control of Zen Cart here. I'm simply responding based on things you're saying, because that's all I know about your situation.

    I do notice that ALL the transactions I have tried to put through myself since this happen regardless of using a gift certificate or not are showing up as 'Pending' under customer order status, even though I have changed the payment module to 'Processing' I have checked with the hosting site and they say no changes were made and they still are supporting Zen Cart. I use Bluehost by the way.

    Changing the module's status setting only affects FUTURE orders placed using that module. It doesn't touch existing orders. You have to do that manually.

    Also, I was re-reading some of this thread, and you've been mentioning "Gift certificates to get free products", and then you're mentioning "coupons" and then you're mentioning something about a disappearing input box for GV amount.

    I'm honestly puzzled about what the real symptoms are, vs what you're trying to accomplish.
    And, I have no idea whether placing a "normal" order (without using all these coupons/gv's etc) is actually working for you.

    Originally, I was trying to set up discount coupons, which did not work.

    I have tried normal orders, still not working

    as for the disappearing input box for the redemption code, it is where the customer would enter the code I send to redeem their discount. The only thing that shows is the enter code box.

    When I say not working, all orders put through show as 'Pending' and I receive the message "NOTE: Downloads are not available until payment has been confirmed" I hope that clarifys things.

    and I have tried putting orders through after making the change to payment module from pending to processing and still is goes through as pending.

    Sounds like you need to go click on your "Offline Credit Card" module, and then click "Remove" to properly remove its ability to process orders mistakenly.

    There are TWO sections on the payment page for redeeming things.
    If you have coupons enabled, there will be a box to redeem the coupon code.

    If you have Gift Certificates/Vouchers enabled, there will be ANOTHER section that lets them redeem GV codes AND enter how much GV balance they want to use.
