Change the sequence of custom search sidebox?

Hi

I'd like some feedback to see if what i want to do is possible (given that I'd only be able to copy and paste!)

my store is at store.mmw.ie

The custom search sidebox looks for "product" input first and i would like to change this to "vehicle make".

I know I'll have to clone the sidebox but do i need to clone the individual php files that make up the "engine" as I just want to change the order that the search is carried out?

for example the last part of the search is "get_exact_model.php", If i want this changed to "get_make.php" can I just search in the code and replace these file names to the order i want?
Apologies i've confused you, my knowledge of coding is nill. I can post the contents of any individual files if anyone thinks it would help

Just finished looking into this and it's way beyond my capabilities

I'll have to find someone who's familiar with php to take a look for me.

Id
