How do I add my OWN buttons?

I created a set of buttons to match my template, I made them all the same size and named them all the same names as in templates/template_default/buttons/english/button_add_to_cart.gif
all my new buttons, are named the same.

I created a new CUSTOM template and created the folders..
templates/CUSTOM/buttons/english/
and added my NEW buttons, non of them have changed from the deafult set, what have I done wrong?

Is your new /custom/ template the active one on your site? Exactly what is the template name?

The new twmplate is the active one on mt site yes, I called my folder custom, thats what the tutorials tell you to call it, and I called my template that also, $template_name = 'CUSTOM';

You do know that "custom" is just a sample name that you can replace with whatever name you want to use...? What is the exact filepath with the custom folders? Capitalization matters; the folder name must be exactly the same everywhere. $template_name = 'CUSTOM'; does not affect the folder names at all, it is just what the admin uses to identify the template in the selection page.

/public_html/includes/templates/CUSTOM/buttons/english/

and all the buttons I created, I named them the same as all the buttons in default-template

was I suposed to add the default-template file to my custom folder?

That would be the right path for that template. I don't know why they wouldn't be working. Can you give a link to see your site live?
