removing payment and shipping modules

Hi -

I'm contemplating the prospect of upgrading to 1.3.9. In the instructions, it says that the payment and shipping modules have to be re-installed.

1. what about the order total modules? Do they need to be removed and reinstalled, too?
2. is there some easy way to capture all the settings in these modules for fast re-installation, or is this mostly a pen-and-paper exercise?

I copy all settings to NotePad ...

And on the modules I do a reinstall on Payment, Shipping and Order Total modules ...

As a safety do a backup of your database as the current settings are in the configuration table ...

NotePad is just a simple text editor, right? Do you just cut and paste from the browser?

And, rest assured that I'll do a backup before I start this...I'm not expecting this to be pleasant. (It doesn't help that seemingly NO ONE makes a really good file comparison/merge tool for the Mac.)

I click on each module that is installed and copy the right panel ... then edit the module and copy any specific code I might need such as on USPS I make sure I have my account number saved and compare the copy from the panel to what I see on the edit to ensure that I understand my settings so that they can be reset more easily ...

Actually, Araxis Merge is great, and BBedit is pretty good too.
I prefer 3-way comparison tools (such as those), as it makes upgrading so much simpler.
