Installation hangs at Database Setup

I don't understand the assumptions behind your question.

The assumptions were that if Zen Cart believed configure.php was writeable (which it was not) then the directorys that required chmod'ing to 777 to facilitate image uploads(?) are probably broken also.

I don't fully understand the ownership subject. Was just curious if I needed to ask for Hostek to change the owner on all the directories that required chmod to 777 also since the configure.php was not correct.

Doesn't matter now though...

Does this indicate a file permission problem?

That's showing that it failed to write out the DB_SERVER value to the configure.php file, or it failed to read it in properly, or the value has been lost from the session, or none was entered.

I uploaded a copy of the zip file and extracted it on the server. The installation routine worked.

Your last response led me to believe I had a corrupted installation.
