Default Re: custom/ prefix on files

You should use a good text editor like Crimson Editor or Notepad++ (both available free on the net) to edit php files.

custom is not a prefix. Custom is used in the tutorials as a generic name for the folders of a custom template. You can use any name you like, but it must be consistant for Zen Cart to recognize that the folders are related.

Anywhere you see a /classic folder, you can create a folder for your own template.

To use your example, you would save the new header.php in includes/languages/english/custom/.

If you're interested, there are free templates available for Zen Cart. You can see them in action at http://(sorry, site offline)/. They make great guides to creating your own template.
