Company name before name??

Hi all,


not 100% sure if this is the correct place for this post. But just have a quick query really:

why does customer shipping/billing address within checkout show company name before the customers name and address? Is this how its supposed to be.

I have tried changing the address format for the country but this doesn't move company name. Can i move the company name between the fits/last name and first line of the address?

In Admin > Tools > Developers Toolkit do a search for 'company' (without the quotes) and then look for the relevant template file tpl_ etc etc

Then in that file move the relevant company div to where you want it.

Don't forget to backup before you are attempting to do this.

Thanks for the reply but i'm still struggling. I can't find the company name divs, that reside just before the rest of the address details. I'm not looking to move the fields that customers edit with, just where it is listed with the edit button to the side.

I think it might even be down to the way that zen pulls fields from the customer details database. As the field for company name is before the rest.

That's happening because the address-format does NOT include the company name, so what you're seeing is a result of displaying the company name, followed by the formatted address (formatted using the address-format specified for the country in the address).
It's the way it was architected by osCommerce, and inherited here. One day we may rewrite it the way it should have been written, but yours is the first complaint about it that I've seen in years.

I didn't mean it to sound like a complaint. I just suspected that it would be easy enough to swap around. Generally, in the UK, the contact name comes before company name. Its only a minor thing and i shouldn't imagine it would stop an item being delivered etc...

It would be nice to mayb have the option in the future though please. Thanks!
