I cannot backup ALL Zen Cart files via FTP

Hi - I am trying to backup my Zen Cart Files from my server to my computer via FTP (Filezilla), but have found that, when I select ALL the folders in the main Zen Cart directory and copy them, not all of them actually do. The following folders would not copy:-

EDITORS
EMAIL
EXTRAS
MEDIA
PUB

and also, the following subfolders in the IMAGES folder would not copy:-

ATTRIBUTES
BANNERS
CATEGORIES
DVD
LARGE
MANUFACTURES
MICROSOFT
UPLOADS

I realise that I probably dont have to backup all these folders anyway, but I was wondering why I couldnt actually copy them to my c: drive using FTP.
The file permissions on the folders were 755, but it did'nt seem to matter what they were changed to (ie 777), none of these folders would copy over. In fact, taking the IMAGES/ATTRIBUTES folder as an example, there were a number of JPEG files in there with 644 permission, and I changed a couple to 777 and these individual jpegs wouldnt copy over.
Can anyone explain why this is happening?
(All the folders/files in the INCLUDES folder WOULD copy over)

Does your hosting control panel's file manager have a 'compress' option?That's how I back the folders and files up - zip everything up and download the zip file.

If your FTP program can't download the files, then your hosting company has set up the server so that several files in those folders are "owned" by someone other than your FTP user account. This can sometimes happen when you upload images via your admin area for example. Not all servers are impacted the same; evidently yours has some limitations.
You'll need to work with your hosting company to sort out your file-ownership problems.
