Hi. I have just completed the store I've been working on for a long time. I wanted to launch the store right away, but with this upgrade, it might took some time... Do you think it's okay to hold the upgrade, launch the site, (while working on the upgrade); then upgrade the version?
Will the store still works?

Yes it will still work. Yes, getting it launched and then upgrade and test alongside is an appropriate strategy, and better than complicating your launch with a rushed upgrade.

But ... if you've not applied all the posted security fixes for 1.3.8 then you'll want to do that ASAP!
