How to integrate Paypal within Zencart 1.3.8?

Hello Team,

I am newbie to ZenCart. I didn't explore much but what I did- is indeed excellent.

I am playing around now a days.

Can someone please guide me how to integrate paypal with-in?

For ex- Customer comes to website, orders online- now two ways of paying online.

1. One clicks "Pay by Paypal" and site takes him on Paypal site and once payment is successfully done, returns back to website with ordefr confirmation code or some confirmation id.

2. After clicking on "Pay by Paypal" a lil pop up comes to input paypal user name and password and payment is done online without leaving website.

I don't know what these both ways are called?

But is it possible to integrate any one or both in Zencart 1.3.8.

I coudldn't find any manual which instructs how to do it.

Please share your views.

PayPal is already "integrated" with Zencart.

You activate the desired modues under ADMIN >>> modules >>> payment.

But first you must have your PayPal account properly set up at PayPal, and you will need the BUSINESS account if you want to use WPP.

if you use PayPal standard IPN, you DO NOT activate PayPal express, but if you use WPP then you HAVE TO have express as well.

Set up your PayPal account first (at paypal), then, when it is ready, invoke the desired modules.

It was prompt.

Actually this website will be used by customers and owner's paypal address [existing] will be on back end to accept all payments.

Now while integrating, one has to input owner's paypal address on back end?

Is it something you are referring to do it from admin?

From your post, it is clear you have not spent much time studying the Admin area of zencart.

Before you try to fly, be content with walking first. Spend several hours in the Admin section... and you'd also do well to avail yourself of a copy of Go Koon Hoek's book, advertised at the top of this screen.

Yes I haven't checked admin section.

Now I did and found that one can easily integrate paypal.

I have one more question-

Payment can be done through two ways.

1. Customer clicks on "Pay Online" and he selects Paypal moce and Paypal login section comes one the website itself in a small space and customer puts in credentials and payment done.

2. After clicking on 'Pay Online' Site takes customer to PayPal website and payment done and redirect to website.

So which option is currently availiable in 1.3.8?

Turn on and configure the Express Checkout, then test the flow to see how PayPal works with Zen Cart.

All three of Paypal's interfaces are available through Zen Cart, as long as you have the correct Paypal business account.

May I please trouble you guys again-

In my Paypal- I can't see API option under My Profile.

When I called up Paypal support, they said that you have to set up yourself. They said that once your business account will be activated then API option will appear


If I am correct then API comes by default... please correct me here.

Does I need to set up myself? I know coding a lil bit- can you throw some light on this?

There's no need for you to do any coding.

You can install Express Checkout by following the instructions in your admin, and/or here: www.zen-cart.com/getpaypal

Don't bother looking under the profile in PayPal - your best route is to click on "My Business Setup" on the right of your PayPal home page. That will take you straight into the area where you can configure everything.

Just don't do what I did and try to use a live API configuration in the Sandbox. It doesn't work!! Took me 2 days to figure that out
