red flag Site file Monitor (Error)

    hi,

I have just installed Site File Monitor on 1.3.9a fresh install.
When I click on update the site monitor admin section, it says this error: (Reference file creation failed.)

    Delete Reference File
Delete the reference file and create a new one.

All files where installed correctly and the two files edited correctly as well!

Any one had this happen yet?

Maybe it's not compatible with 1.3.9a?

    Best Regards,

Has anyone added this mod to 1.3.9b and got it working?

Our experience is that the addition of the require once in the two files will fix the problem IF you make sure you are using the correct username in the Start Directory block. Something like /home/freaker/public_html where freaker is your username.

Also, there needs to be a fix to line 418 of the sitemonitor_configure_setup.php in the root of your admin in order to make the update button appear.

    It should read
    PHP Code:
    <INPUT type="image" src="<?php echo DIR_WS_LANGUAGES $language 'english/images/buttons/button_update.gif'?>"
Make sure there is no slash in front of english.

In addition to that, if you want to run a cron to get it going use
    php -q /home/USERNAME/public_html/YOUR_ADMIN/sitemonitor.php
Remember to change USERNAME and YOUR_ADMIN to the correct settings.

I would not recommend running the cron more than once a day.

    dbltoe,

Is this module running on 1.3.9c for you? Mine won't run and it gets the same error "Reference file creation failed"

Running fine AFTER editing the two files AND making sure the path is correct in the Start Directory block in your admin panel under configure.

I added the file correction because the update button was not showing. The link was incorrect.

    Got it to work!

Is it possible to just have the cron job send email if and when there are changes made to the site?

Cron jobs have to be set to run at a certain time. However, you could code the proper php file to only e-mail you if a change has occurred.

I don't always believe that "no news is good news." I prefer to know either way. Just the paranoia in me, I guess.
