Checkout process: remove confirmation page (step 3)

I would like to shorten the checkout procedure and remove the confirmation page (step 3 of 3) completely.

Is there anyone having me some advice how to do that properly. I have tried to just replace the button link of step 2 by the button link of step 3 (confirmation page) but that does not seem to work....

Help is greatly appreciated!!!

Be aware that you may be in violation of the terms & conditions set out by your payment handler if you remove the checkout confirmation page. Most of them require such a page before payment is completed.
