Help Zip Folder Empty

I think I finally figured out how to add a downloadable product.
But now when I do a test and I download the file it is empty. But i know that it has files in the folder as I tested it before uploading to my server.

I dont know where else to look for answer and looked through board forever first.

Admin->Configuration->Attribute Settings:
Download by Redirect = false

works ok for me. I didn't even need to set
Download by Streaming = on
although my files are some 100 MBytes.

If you do need this streaming option, check the value of max_execution_time in your server's php.ini file.

does this really give as many downloads as they want even if I set it in admin panel to anly allow 3 ?

I uploaded a downloadable product.

All is well until I do a test and download the folder.
The folder ends up downloading empty. It says it is 4 kb when I download it ( the file is bigger than that ) and when i go to unzip it it says it is empty and wont unzip.

I tried download by redirect ( I have linux ) does not work.
I try the other options and get error paes at download.

I worked on this literaaly all night and I am getting frustrated.

I have to say when I look on the server the folder is there full size and intac.

I tried 777 abd binary solution as well with no success.

I am on a vps server so i dont think my server is an issue. But if it is is there something I should be looking for on the server end to fix?

Can you be more specific? ie: actual error messages

When i try streaming i get http internal server error
with gzip on and off

The host fixed this for me...
Anyone else having this problem have them unstick Safe mode
