Before I upgrade to 1.3.9, I want to install Xampp to do some testing. I've downloaded the latest version (1.7.3) and have followed the installation instructions in the Zen Cart manual but have two problems :
- The Mercury mail server gives an erorr message in windows which says the programme is not compatible
- When I enter www.example.com/xampp in a web browser (Firefox), I get a 404 not found error
What's going wrong ? Has anyone else installed Xampp on Win 7? Is there something particular which needs configuring ?

Ok, I've figured out the example.com 404 error (I had to reove the "#" from before the extra three lines added to the bottom, ie 127.0.0.1 www.myexample.com etc). I'm still having problems with the mail server however. I've installed Xampp 1.7.3 on an XP PC and same problem there. Any ideas ?

I have installed xampp on windows 7 also the mail server is an optional feature for your demo site you can run this without the mail server and simply customize it when you upload your actual site.

Well, yes I realise the mail server is not absolutely necessary but it would have been nice to test sending emails before launching the site. Do you also get the message saying that a programme (which turns out to be Mercury) is attempting to send a message ? How do get rid of it ? Originally Posted by 3dsgiftsnThings
