8030 - Communication Timeout Encountered using 3D Secure

I am using 1.39b with paypal pro and have implemented 3D secure.

I have followed the relevant steps provided by Cardinal for configuration but am sometimes getting this error:

8030 - Communication Timeout Encountered

Problem occurred while customer (customer name) was attempting checkout with 3D-Secure authentication.

CURL error: 6-name lookup timed out.

I contacted Cardinal to ask if it was anything that they could sort out and they said that an 8030 error would have to be sorted out with Zencart.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

CURL error: 6-name lookup timed out.

That's a problem with your hosting server.
ZC uses CURL to talk to Cardinal and to PayPal, but to do that it must be able to use DNS name resolution in order to connect to their servers.
But, evidently *your* server is having troubles doing name lookups.
That's something only your hosting company can resolve for you.

I contacted my webhost and they say there is no problem with nameservers and sent me to this link http://www.intodns.com/goldelox.co.uk
Is there anything else I need to ask them to do to resolve this?

Well ... unless they have some specialized expertise with which they've configured the server so that the PHP software on *their* server is somehow doing its CURL name-server lookups via some server other than theirs, then the problem IS with them.

I didn't blame their nameservers. I blamed the fact that CURL, running on *your* server via PHP, is failing to receive acceptable nameserver responses from *your* server's defined nameserver. (By "*your*" I mean your hosting company.)

So, if your hosting company can't explain why services running their servers are NOT working correctly, then I suggest you find a hosting company who knows what they're doing when running their servers.

There's nothing to be done from the Zen Cart end. The problem is happening somewhere in PHP/CURL/nameserver/webserver configuration, which is entirely in the control of your hosting company.

Sorry to pass the buck, but that's how it works. All we can do is use the services provided by your hosting company. And if those don't work, you're out of luck until they do.

Hi Doc,

Just to update my situation my hosting company tell me they have made the necessary alterations regarding the 8030 error and since they have said that I have no longer received that error.
However I am now receiving this error on every 3d secure transsaction.

We were not able to process your order. Please select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. ( 1000 [Generic processor error: 10001-Timeout processing request]) Generic processor error: 10001-Timeout processing request -

Problem occurred while customer #2800 -- name of customer -- was attempting checkout.

I have contacted cardinal yesterday bit have heard nothing. It seems not many people can checkout. Have you any idea what this is, is it still my hosting company that have configured something wrong?
Any help would be appreciated.

The 5-digit error code is typical of a PayPal transaction, thus I would suggest that you should be reporting the issue to PayPal: www.paypal.com/mts
Unfortunately I can't find a 10001 error in their docs related to DoDirectPayment or tied to "Timeout processing request", so I've not any added ideas for correcting the problem.
The debug logs might help.
