Copyright bleeding into sideboxes

I'm having trouble with my copyright background. I set the copyright to have a background color the same as the rest of the site (as it was showing up white). I noticed that on pages where the left sideboxes are longer then the middle section, the copyright background would bleed in to the bottom of those sideboxes (the sidebox its happening to is the main section displaying the product categories).

Before I added the background color is was basically just a long white strip that wasn't quite as long as the website itself. Is there any way to either shorten the side of that...'table' or do I need to add an image or something to 'push' the copyright section down? Note that if the middle section is longer then the sideboxes on the left and right, it just pushes the copyright section down and it doesn't bleed in to anything.

Any ideas? I tried searching the forums and Google but with no luck unless im just using the wrong terms to search. Thanks ahead of time.
