    Default Imported DATABASE, Admin Problem

Hi, i'm not sure if i posted this in the correct category. (Admin please move if so)

I've been hired to transfer a zen-cart website from one host to another. I imported the old SQL, and used fantastico preinstalled scripts to save time. It installed version 1.3.8a [Patched])........ Everything went fine on the site...all the products, categories, and content showed up on the website. But the categories aren't in the admin panel, neither is the products or any of the settings she apparently had on the old site....

However all of the products show up and links work properly...

I dont have an idea of what version zen-cart she had on the old site...I'm thinking perhaps this is why the admin panel isnt showing the categories that are in the database.

Is there any tables for admin panel that may be missing? Or a setting i'm missing? This is my first time working with zen cart but need this to be fixed.

Any comment, help is extremely appreciated. THANKS FOR READING ALL OF THIS!

Did you make a complete backup of the old site first?
Have you compared all the tables from the old site to the new site?

You should NEVER use automated installer, as you are hurting yourself AND your client by not installing the latest version which contains several security fixes, and a few new features. Now, you're already "starting out behind".

The tables are all the same, like i said the categories and products show on the website, but not the admin panel...Do you have any clue why its doing that?

If the database tables are all the same, then I would compare ALL files in your ZC install to ALL files in a fresh ZC copy. Sounds like a file might not have got uploaded to the server, or got corrupted during transfer.

Well, took your advice, and uploaded it manual, and used the latest version. Imported the sql again and now its showing up in the admin panel perfectly. In a way you did help by telling me i should have used the latest version, and not automated script...So I appreciate it! I can finally move forward!
