What permission should the includes/spider.txt file have? I looked around but couldn't find an answer for this one.

No special permission necessary. It should be treated like all the other files in that folder.

I came across the spider.txt file mention while looking for something (can't' recall what it was.. I am looking for a lot...) and it said the spider.txt needs to be readable by the public. I checked my spider.txt permission and it was set 644... is that right?

The correct answer is: the file needs to have the same permission as the other files in that folder. 644 is commonly suitable in most cases.
