How to add Quantity drop down for products?

I am looking for a way to add a drop down menu with pre-defined quantities for customers to select.

Does anyone know what I need to do to implement this?

A bit more information about what you are fundamentally trying to accomplish may help us give the best answer.

Do you have a product that you only want purchasable in these defined quantities, and never more than the largest quantity in the list?

In that case, you could set the product's maximum quantity to 1, and use an attribute to hold the dropdown list. You would also set the product to zero base price and "priced by attributes", and apply the total price for each quantity in Catalog > Attribute Controller.

Yes I want the products to only be purchased in the given quantities as I have items it packs.
What I wanted was to show the price of a single item in the pack. I think you have answered my question and I will try what you have suggested and let you know how i get on.

I managed to create a quantity drop down with the attribute values I wanted. I know I can change the price for each attribute value to reflect the quantity in the attribute but is there a way to link the attribute to the actual quantity in stock so that the right quantity is deducted from stock?
I could not see anything in attributes to do this.

I have made an attribute with quantity drop downs.
In the drop down I have quantity 2, 4 ,6
what I what is when a customer selects 4 from the drop down and clicks "add to Cart", the cart adds Qty 4 to the cart.

That is not going to happen. You will get one of the product with an attribute of Qty 4. If you call the attribute option values something like "Pack of 2", "Pack of 4", etc., it will make sense to the customer. Then if they want two packs of 4, they will see that they have ordered correctly.

To day I have a new issue,
I have set quantities to be ordered in zen cart to 6 or 12 piece min for most products.

I am wanting to us zen cart to do my in store sales, I think the easiest way at the moment is just to create an account for in store transactions but the problem is I have a lot of old customers who I allow to take lower quantities of some products. If I have set a product to minimum 6 in zen cart it will not let me do a sale for 4!

Is there any way I can setup a user login with rights to add to cart any quantity even if there is a minimum set for the product.

That would require some custom coding. The basic function may be relatively simple to accomplish, though there may well be additional places that need to be addressed - an expert on the quantity code would know more.
