OK, I have gotten most of this to work by using the documentation that schoolboy created. However when I download the file that was created for my temp directory there is not much in there. There are 668 rows in my file and I only get two returned. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I have read the directions two times or more and made any changes it recommended.
Thank you

Could someone please help with this problem. My data for each manufacturer is quite large like 600 products for 20 manufacturers. It would be very time consuming to import this manually.
Thank you

you can use excel, however you should be importing comma or tab delimited files, as easy populate will not recognise the excel file format. the two lines that were returned in the temp file are probably just the first attempt (and subsequent failure) to read this file.
you can save your excel file when it is ready for importing by using the file->save as... function, and choosing the file type "*.csv". you'll lose your formatting, but that is of little consequence except when it comes to dates and numbers so be careful how you format those columns (can sometimes take a little playing around to get it right depending on how much info you're uploading).
I have tried what you stated already. If I do a save as and let the window box open, I same it as a text file with tab delimited. There are three types of cvs files that it can be save in and they are cvs comma delimited (new not to used that one) cvs (macintosh) and cvs (ms-dos). I am only geting the headers, like v_products_model, etc. I even cut the file down to 100 rows and still get the same. Also I have tried it with EOREOR at the end of every line and at the end of only the last line, I aways get the same thing.

can you tell me what version of easy populate you're using?
Yes, I am using EP_v1.2.5.4. I forgot I tried it with the comma delimited first, but then thought that was wrong.
Thank you

hmmm, i know i had some trouble with the version originally submitted by langer, however came across a "patched" or enhanced version by phazei, which worked for me quite well. i'll have a look at my file formats, but may not be able to help much more if the versions are different with respect to file format variations. will have a look now and get back to you shortly.
I have also tried this one EP_v2_75a_Zen-Cart_1_2 but according to the documentation that schoolboy did we should not be on that version don't know. Anyway when I had that version installed I did not have the documentation so, my excel sheet did not have the correct headings and I was not using cvs.
Thank you

so sorry, but it looks like my version is somewhat different.
i use comma separated values for my imports, which are clearly defined in the easypopulate file that resides in my admin directory. the version i am using is unfortunately v1.2.5.5, meaning i'm not comparing "apples with apples". perhaps if i get time over the next few days i'll be able to have a closer look, in the meantime hopefully someone else may be able to help.
good luck!
