My apologies, hit the wrong button before I had finished, it should read...
Hello everyone,
I have just recently set up a Webshop using ZenCart and I have come across an issue on product attributes that I am stuck on. The situation is as follows:-
In the online shop, I have keyrings and brooches, I have dropdowns to select colours and styles. There are three styles, circle, flower and heart. I do the flower and heart style in all colours, but only do the circle in the keyring, in black. How can I change this in the shop so that when a person goes to pick a pink keyring, for example, that they are not given the option of a circle (because we do not stock it)? you can see the dropdowns that I am referring to here:- http://www.shains.co.uk/store/index....=index&cPath=2
Your help on the above would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

If you need to REMOVE an option VALUE from a product, then you need to call up the Attribute Controller, navigate to that product, and physically delete it from the list of values that show up in the Attribute Controller.
If the same set of attribute parameters then apply to other products, you can use the COPY feature in attribute controller to "mass-assign" your edit(s) to other products and/or categories.

Bear in mind too, that zencart's attribute system does not allow for "attribute dependancy"... ie: what is offered in option B is dependant on what was chosen before, in option A.

Hi Schoolboy,
Thanks for getting back to me. If I understand correctly, i do not think this solves my problem.
If I go to buy a keyring on my site, I have to choose the colour I want and the style I want. The style dropdown has a choice between circle, flower and heart and the colour dropdown has a choice between four colours. In one of the colours (Black) the keyring is available in all three styles (circle, flower and heart). However in pink, blue and red the keyring is only availabe in heart or flower (we do not stock the circle version). My problem is that if a customer selects blue, for example, from the colour dropdown as their choice of colour and then go to select their style, as it currently stands, circle, heart and flower will display. I only want heart and flower to display, because that is what we stock in that colour.
If on the other hand they choose black as their colour from the colour dropdown, I will want circle, heart and flower to display in the style dropdown, because we stock all three styles in the colour black.
How can I do this on Zen Cart?
I hope the above is clear!
Thanks!

I just told you... dependant attributes are not possible in zencart.

I do know of someone who completely re-coded the attributes function... but this cost in the region of £12k ... so it can be done if cash is no object.
See if jsweb has any ideas (google for jsweb)

HI Schoolboy,
thanks for getting back to me with the extra info.

The stock by attributes module on it's own or coupled with dynamic dropdowns module will solve your problem.
I have it working in exactly the same way you require on several of my 1.38a sites (don't know if it works on 1.39).
