Default SSL log in, security exceptions for chrome and firefox.

    Hi Folks
    Using 1.3.8a
Dual pricing_wholesale pricing - Now dormant
Group pricing per item - Works fine
    SSL certificate provider ipsCA
    host - JustHost

    Problem
1 - After 7 days of tennis between web host and SSL cert provider I can now type https://woodandknifesupply.com into IE and get a secure page, with no errors or messages whatsoever.

    However!
Google chrome and Firefox flag up a big warning and I need to create a one time local security exception after which I am then directed to the above web address.

Even at this point Chrome has HTTPS in bold red with a line through it to remind me there is a problem and Firefox displays an extra bit of web address to indicate the same security exception.

I have just changed the log in page to SSL and as expected it is ok in Internet Explorer, but in Chrome or Firefox displays the same issues as above.

The web host claims this is normal and that I should expect to create an exception.....well I firmly beleive this is utter tosh....especially as other secure SSL websites do not need an exception.

Thoughts regarding what could be causing the problem appreciated....

    Question
2 - After logging in securely, is it the norm to stay on secure pages whilst browsing the catalogue?
I would have thought it would return to none secure for speed etc.

    Thanks.

this is from firefox technical site .

The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed
(site name) uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

    (Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer)

Self-signed certificates make your data safe from eavesdroppers, but say nothing about who the recipient of the data is. This is common for intranet websites that aren't available publicly.
perhaps you should contact certificate provider and have them fix this issue.

Many thanks for the response, I have forwarded the information to the certificate provider.....
