usps not showing in estimator

Hi, we are using zencart 1.38. i am helping a freind get his shipping working. it has never worked. following the posts on the forum I have updated the php module to the jan 4 2010 version, after having uninstalled the module, then ftp'd and reinstalled the module. I have also verified that usps is at production with a phone call.

the shipping estimator has never shown usps shipping. it was only showing per item(best way). I have removed all modules except usps, set the display order to one, and the shipping estimator is empty, although the cart correctly displays item/box/weight.

If you would use the posting tips and let us know relevant facts, we might be of more help.

Have you investigated the possibility that your theme is at fault? Template Monster is well-known for adding and changing standard css code. You may have to have someone take a look at your core files to remedy the problem.

Sorry, I thought I had included the relevant facts from the posting tips.

but after more investigation, the problem is maybe more of a configuration.

When I use the shipping estimator (as visitor) and add an item to my cart and then choose the country, if I choose puerto rico and the state/province is puerto rico, then i get the usps estimate. If I choose country as Canada, state province of alberta, i get the usps estimate, if I choose UK as country and london area, i get the usps estimate, but if I choose United States as country, California as the state and my zip code, I get no estimate.

if you have zones set, they will effect the settings. IF you have a zone set to PR it will not ship to US
