Login and Logout Issues

Sometimes when viewing pages on my company's website, we get logged out when clicking certain links or buttons.

For instance, if someone were to click Continue Shopping from their shopping cart, it would send them back to our home index (which is fine) but it would also log them out at the same time. This is where the problem lies.

This also occurs when some products are clicked directly from our drop-down navigation. Any ideas?

Update to new errors:


All of the links in the top header of Zen's stock version, like
'Home' ,'Shopping Cart' ,'Checkout' ,'My Account', retain the login throughout the pages. However, whenever someone clicks any other linkage from the website, it logs them out and takes them to that page.

Perhaps that's a bit more exact report.

Issue Solved -

When on an SSL site, one must ensure that the source destination for the linkage is NOT set to https. Your images will need to be https, but not your referenced link.

So, this is an example of what I had before for my buttons,

If you had this in there, it would have sent you to the page but logged you out. If you take the s of https, then it will retain your login throughout the site. I changed all my nav links to this and it now works fine.

Correct Format:

I can confirm for you that you shouldn't be experiencing this problem.

Once logged into the customer's account, that customer should be able to navigate around Zencart pages without being logged out. This includes using manually entered links in your html such as "go here to see a similar product" type links in your product descriptions. (Be sure to use relative links, not absolute links (eg" /index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=112_114&products_id=303 and not http://www.mywebsite.com//index.php?...roducts_id=303).

If the customer arrives by an external link that customer will not be logged in until he/she chooses to log in.

If you have links that take the customer outside the Zencart pages you might consider adding target="_blank" to the href statement so that the link opens in a new window leaving the original Zencart page open. When the customer closes the external page the Zencart page will still be open and logged in.
