Can customers add several related products with one click?

Hi -
I'm new to this and finding my way through it, so help is appreciated!

I'm building and selling custom bicycles. I want customers to be able to select a group of components just by 'adding to cart' once. In other words, when they click "add to cart", several products appear in their cart seperately. These products are also available seperately, and after adding a group, a customer may want to remove one and add an alternative.

Can this be done? The alternative is to create a new product describing all of the grouped components (duplicated work for me) which would also mean that for the customer to change one component in a group of six or seven, they'd have to remove the whole group then add back in all the individual components (annoying for the customer).

I've done a search and can't find the answer, but my apologies if I've missed it and this is a duplicate.

Guess that would need a bit of customized coding - hmmm....

Someone more experienced might come up with a suggestion or two

This question comes up a lot, and there was at least one attempt at writing a mod, which I think failed.

Only way I can think of would be to make the bike the product and add all the options as attributes. You could still make those options products in themselves.

Ah well, thanks guys. I guess I'll have to stick with the clumsy option for now.
