How to put subcategory under multiple categories?

I am using 1.3.9c

I know how to put products into multiple categories/subcategories, but can not find anything on having a subcategory under multiple categories. I need all the products under the subcategory to be linked as well.

For example

subcategory - T-Shirts - needs to go under Multiple Main Categories, such as Aparel, Outdoor/Sports, School/Religion/Charities.

Can I do something with the category number - to make it link to the same subcategory under different main categories so I don't have to copy every product into each subcategory that is exactly identical?

Sorry, a (sub)category can only be connected under one category.
Multiple copy features may make your task easier, and once you have the products linked to the appropriate categories, you only need to update the master and it will show the same everywhere.

Sorry, a bit lost on that but looking to see if there's something similar.

For example, I'm looking to set-up a "Brakes" subcategory under each model of car. So I'm probably going to have a hundred or more categories eventually with just brakes (for example). Is there any way to automate creating your heirarchy of categories and subcategories in one shot? I have easy populate but I believe that doesn't create new categories, just allows you to set where a product will sit.

Thanks for the info. Was hoping there would be a way that wouldn't require actually duplicating the subcategory - because there are going to be a lot of products and lots of copying to link instead of just linking the whole subcategory folder.

I was wondering if I could do something in coding using the number that is assigned to the subcategory 32 T-shirts for example, then under another category the folder number might be 45 T-shirts - any thoughts?

BUMP - I am looking to do the same thing
I have categories of States, then subcategories of County, then subcategories of that like auto, retail, fitness, etc... I need the auto, retail, fitness, etc to be automatically generated for each County. Is this possible?

It might be possible to do this by manipulating the database directly, but that is a potentially dangerous process that should only be done if you are thoroughly proficient with both MySQL and the Zen Cart db structure. Even then, you would need to operate on a test installation first so you don't risk damaging your site.

I need to do this as well. I was thinking of manipulating the database directly by duplicating the necessary category ID, but assigning a different parent ID to each one.

I will test it on my test server, but hopefully it will work!
