Default Too many attributes, doesn't make sense

    Hi folks,

I'm setting up attributes for motorcycle tires and I don't think i'm doing it right.

There are Sport Tires, Cruiser Tires and Dirt Tires. Each type has many different sizes.

I set up 3 different option names with the corresponding size values, for the three different tire types.

The problem is in easy populate... each tire has a column for each size of all three types, and easy populate can no longer download the full sheet.

Can it not be set up so that each tire type only has the relevant size attributes, instead of a column for all the size attributes?

    I'm using 1.3.9a and EP 1.2.5.7.csv

    Thanks

Try making a seperate product for
    Bridgestone - Sport
    Bridgestone - Crusier
    Bridgestone - Dirt

    Same for other mfg's

Then add only the size attribute

Hi Kobra, thanks for the reply. I have a tonne of products to add and started with tires. So having all tires under one Tire category and subsequent subcategories is the problem?

    Tires > Sport > Michelin
    .......................Dunlop
    .......................Bridgestone
    ........> Cruiser > Michelin
    ......................> Dunlop
    ......................> Bridgestone
    ........> Dirt > Michelin
    .................> Dunlop
    .................> Bridgestone

Instead I need to break up the category link box into Sport Tires, Cruiser Tires, Dirt Tires? This would make for a very long list of category buttons.

I've seen other zencart parts sites set up the way I've started and seems to work fine there

Ok, so I just moved the products out of the Tire category and into their own top level categories. Then added a new size attribute option name and option values for Dirt tires which I have not entered yet.

However these new values still get added to the far columns of the csv file and can't be downloaded with easy populate.

What am I doing wrong here?

The free version of EP does not include support for attributes
    Options:
    1. Obtain the paid version
    2. Manually enter for one and copy to a category/sub-cat

sorry for the confusion... don't need the same products to display in different categories.

my concern is that i'm going to end up with a thousand columns once i add all the attributes for different sized chains, sprockets, air filters, oil filters, because every product has every attribute in its row.

each product in EP should only have its respective attributes in its row, but as of now a tire will also have chain, sprocket, filter attributes in its row as well.
