Background image in Tabs-Categories?

Never posted anything on here yet, but have spent 154,895,345 hours scouring this site and Google for something that I (of course) thought would be rather simple!

But of course that is never the case, eh?

Hopefully someone out there can help with this.

I am trying to put a background image across the top of the site, behind the top (horizontal) categories, under the header.

Tried Firefox Web Design, thought I found a solution, but nope.
Entered the code stuffs into the stylesheet thingy and nothing.

Any help would be ridiculously appreciated!
New to CSS and kinda figured if I could do something simple (ha!)
like this, I would be able to figure out how to make my site a bit less, ummm, juvenile. We'll see....

You alredy have the cat names as images in an Unordered list or ul
Go back and enclose this list in a new div
You can then add a background image to that div in your stylesheet

Depending on the image, I would expect you could just specify it in the stylesheet as a background-image in #navCatTabs or #navCatTabsWrapper.

I tried the #navCatTabs and #navCatTabsWrapper to no avail.

Where and how should I go about creating an ordered list for the cat names as images and create a new div?

Nevermind.

I decided to create an image and place it in the tag line until I can figure this out instead.

Still would like to do this eventually, but for now it at least looks like
it is actually a part of the Tab Categories....

But this brings up a different problem:
How to remove the space between the tag line and top categories?

Back to Google....

P.s.
Anyone know how to make the footer image ONLY show on the main page?
