    Default Fix_Cache_Key

    Hi,

I am trying to reinstall my store (1.3.8) on a test server (same host)
so as to prepare upgrading to V1.3.9d in a safe environment.

So far, it is a failure.

I used the Wiki "switch servers" article (http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p...Switch_Servers) and it seems fine, except for the Fix_Cache_Key.php file which won't work.

Failure could have other causes..but I won't know what to look for if that last part of instructions cannot be handled.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi again,

Now it seems to be working but only when the fix_cache_key.php file is located on /public_html Directory. Not when located on /public-html/cache.

I hope that does the job..

Yes.. the public_html location is correct.

Basically, fix cache key is the automatic version of what can be done manually in admin >>> configuration >>> sessions .

It is the mechanism to "point" the database reference to the correct (modified) location of the cache folder.

    Thanks fairestcape for being helpful,

May I request your help on another issue regarding reinstallation ?

After upolading all files and the proper database, the Admin works but not the store.

The configure.php files seem OK. I don't get what's wrong.

If you are seeing ADMIN (and I assume it is referencing the COPIED database, not the original one), then you have basically got the site copying process correct.

The fault on the STORE side is most likely to be your includes/configure.php file.

Sometimes, people "transpose" the two configure.php files.

    Remember:

    admin/includes/configure.php
    and
    includes/configure.php

... are DIFFERENT FILES and cannot be "swopped" around.

However, the PATH and LOCATION information that is referenced in both files must be identical - the only exception being the EXTRA info in the admin configure.php file.

So my advice would be to PRINT OUT these two files, and see if there are differences in the data that should otherwise be identical.

And also make sure you are using the CORRECT configure.php file in the STORE side of your installation.

As you give no specific detail about what happens when you try to access the store, I can only surmise that the above is applicable.

However, there could be a variety of issues at play. These include corrupted files, incorrect location of folders and files, etc.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the help.

I get the "system setup required" page on the store.

I checked the configure.php files. They are just the way they should
    be..

    No clue..

The "system setup required" page shows whenever there's something wrong with the contents of the /includes/configure.php file. ie: when the file is missing, or unreadable because permissions are too low, or if it contains syntax errors or points to paths that don't actually exist on this server, or to database credentials which are invalid.
It's very possible that you're missing one or more files/folders under your /includes/ folder.
Double-check everything, perhaps by using FTP to download what's on the server now, and comparing with what you thought you had put up there. (winmerge is invaluable for this)
