Default how to edit index page??

can anyone help me. I am new to zen. I need to do edits on the index page that comes with zen. I know to go to tools and then pick the file to edit. but that does not help me. I want to remove the zen images and replace them with my own. Now where do I find the file to do that. I have looked all over, you can view source on the homepage of the store, but wherre is the html file for this page?? I think if I am on the right track here I can change the images. Its not in the css file. I cannot find it anywhere. Please if anyone knows please respond.

Tutorials/FAQ is a great way to start. Search customization and override.

We would have to know what images you're talking about.

There are very few HTML pages in Zencart - most pages are built dynamically from various files using PHP.

Check the Tutorials/FAQ link at the top of this page.

That is a combination of many php files that create the main page.

Some will even tell you which file as..
This is a test text redo: /languages/english/html_includes/classic/define_main_page.php
which is shown in the center area (Main Page).

You really need to take the time to read the Tutorials/FAQ. Time spent there may not seem valuable now, but it will save you hours of repair later.

You keep wanting us to fish for you instead of learning how to fish.
Everyone on the forum is a volunteer who was helped by someone in their learning process. That someone probably pointed them in the direction of the information rather than "fishing" for them.

Not trying to blow you off, just telling you what will serve you best in the long run.

Hang in there. For over 10 years now, I searched for a shopping cart that could meet my needs.

Even with a background in SQL, ASP, CFML, HTML, CSS, etc (Yes I can program in Sinclair Basic); I searched for a cart with the features I needed. About eight years ago, I found OsCommerce and thought I had found a home. When things at OSC got a little hinky, I moved to Zen Cart. Best move of my life. (Actually I was chasing Ajeh)

Did I hit the ground running? You betcha! Did I try to come at Zen Cart from an ASP/CFML/VS/DreamWeaver direction? Yep! Did I get my handed to me with all the mistakes I made? Boy Howdy!!!

Today, after listening (finally) to many in the forum, I manage 30+ Zen Cart sites, can upgrade most any site in about an hour, and can generally route out a good majority of the errors I come across.

Had I dumped it all back to OSC, not only would I be seriously behind the power curve today, I would be stuck with something that hasn't grown much in years.

The "learning is in the doing" and it will be fun to succeed. My sig used to be, "They say you learn by your mistakes? Shouldn't I be there by now?"

Start with a demo site and the tutorials even if you need to put something else up quickly. Keep the demo going so you can use it to experiment with. Head over to the Tutorials/FAQ and start with the All Time Favorites.

Before long, you'll be here on the forum helping others learn "how to fish"

    Great post, dbltoe!

To work with Zen Cart, you have to pretty much forget about most skills you already have. Get yourself a good text editor (like Notepad++ or Crimson Editor) and an FTP client. Unzip a copy of Zen Cart on your local computer so you can see the folder/file structure. You can make all your changes locally and FTP them to your site. It's easy and it creates an instant backup of your site. The rest is a matter of reading the forum, Tutorials/FAQ and Wiki. Asking questions on the forum will likely help clarify issues, but Zen Cart is too complicated to start explaining here. You really need to do some of the work for yourself.
