Need help changing background width in side boxes

I worked for days and didn't get anywhere because I wasn't uploading my Cherry Zen template correctly. Thanks again to Steve on this forum for telling me how to do it.

Now that it's working correctly, I wanted to change the sizes of my side boxes, so I enlarged my left side box to 165px and decreased my right to 145px in two places in the layout settings area - this is what it looks like now - I highlighted my changes in red so that you could quickly see what I changed.

Column Width - Left Boxes 165px
Column Width - Right Boxes 145px
Bread Crumbs Navigation Separator  :: 
Define Breadcrumb Status 1
Bestsellers - Number Padding  
Bestsellers - Truncate Product Names 35

The categories and information headers changed size, but the background area did not enlarge. Can you tell me how to enlarge the background width. I thought that information might be in the css, and I looked through it, but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Update: I managed to change the left box by changing the sidebox.gif - hopefully this was the correct way to do it.
