How to add a set-up charge?

For some products I need a varying set-up charge to be added to the total for the product order, not per unit. I have tried adding as an attribute but it is not working and searching, I can't seem to find the answer.

I know there must be a way to do this. And I want it to say 'Set-up' Charge in the cart so that the customer knows that there is the total for the order, then the one-time set-up charge.

You could use scott wilson's GIFT WRAPPING module (suitably re-labelled 0f course), as this module is actually configured to add a charge (fee) through the ORDER TOTAL system.

I used it to add a variety of packaging options, and by re-wording the modules language DEFINES, you can get it to label the extra charge to just about anything you want.

Thanks I will try that. Was thinking I should be able to set up directly through the attributes without adding a module, but if it works, that's what I need.

The Gift Wrap module will not work. It has to either be a flat fee or a per piece fee. Different products have different set-up charges.

I need to do it as an attribute somehow so I can set the charge based on the product.

Surely there is a way to do this..........

okay - how do I set it up that way because it is not working for me. And can I get it to say in the cart 'set-up' charge?
