Default Need upgrade help - first time!

I originally used Fantastico to install Zen Cart 1.38a. If I'm not supposed to use Fastastico to upgrade to 1.39d, how do I do perform the upgrade manually?

I've read FAQ, the upgrade docs, backed up files, performed comparisions, but I need advice on how to get the 1.39d files to my server. Do I have to manually FTP ALL those files to ALL those directories? I'm afraid I will put files in the wrong place. Is there some sort of automated process?

Since I never installed Zen Cart manually in the first place, I am at a loss. Can someone please explain the upgrade process in greater detail to someone who has never done it before? Help!

If you have change the admin folder to another name like you should for security reasons then you need to change zencart version1.3.9d admin to what ever name you change it to. If you are using a override system as I mention above and haven't modified any core files then the upload will be no problem. But if you have modified some of the core files you will need to know which ones so you can compare, and merge them together. Yes you will have to upload all those files to your server. Use a FTP Client like FileZilla It is fast and very good. Then all you have to do is a database update.
Make sure you do a backup of your web site and database before you do this.

Upgrade Instructions from v1.3.8 to 1.3.9
If you are upgrading from Zen Cart v1.3.8, the process is simple:
    - compare all the changed files with the files on your own site... and re-apply your customizations to the new files
    - upload the new files (with your customizations added) to your site
    - upload the zc_install folder to your server, and run zc_install/index.php
... select Database Upgrade from the System Inspection screen. Apply the required updates.
    Hope this helps.
Is your site Upgraded to the current version 1.5.4 Yet?
