    Customers can't log in

I have a strange problem when upgrading.

    - My site is in the root directory of my domain. (/)
    - I have a new upgraded version working fine in a sub directory (/beta)

It was time to upgrade, so I waited till late at night and:

    - I deleted the zencart files in the root
    - I uploaded the files from my working /beta site to the root directory (after changing the config files)

The site appears to be functional as such, I can log into admin just fine and everything looks ok there, the product pages appear to work, but I can't log in with my customer account. When I try, the page just loops back to home and I am still not logged in.

    - I tried the new database on the existing /beta site - It works just fine attached to those files.
    - The database has been upgraded.

I didn't give you the domain URL, as it is my live site, so when I couldn't figure it, I just re-uploaded my old working site again, so I was still in business. Thus, I figured there isn't much point in pointing you to a working cart.

Can anyone give me any ideas where I should be looking? I checked the permissions on the config files, playing about, with 744, and even 777 but with no success. The code works in the sub directory, just not in the root when I FTP it in there.

Sorry I am not giving you much to work on, I was just looking for any pointers you may have. Then I can try the upgrade process again.

    Thanks

    Paul

Old version number? - Zen Cart 1.3.8a. But I deleted all those old files. The upgrade was a fresh install.

New version number? - 139d for both the working sit in my /beta folderAnd, the proposed new site (the one customers can't log in)

Shared SSL or dedicated SSL? - None. I only use SSL for payments, which is provided by my card processor, and toatally off server and Zen

Did you clear your browser cache & cookies? Yes. I though of that too, sorry forgot to mention above.
