    Default Digital Art Store Pricing???

I've just downloaded and installed ZenCart (doing it without help was a miracle in itself). My question regards pricing. I read through the lengthy thread here but couldn't find a post that solved this problem.

I do digital art and want to set up a store to sell my images. I need my customers to be able to select an image, then select a size and then select the mounting (foamcore or masonite).

All products are priced the same but price will change with size and/or backing.

    Example:

    any 16x20 print is $75.00
    foamcore mount add $15.00
    Total $90.00

Can this be done in Zencart? (latest version)

Of course it can be done; it takes a little planning though.
Search in the FAQs for options and attributes and fallow step by step
It may sound at first a little scary but it’s fairly simple.

In your short scenario,Create an option name" size". Give it 2 or 3 values (ex: 16x20 and 30x40) Set the prices to it.
then add an option "Mont" and add the values, and put in an additional price to them.

things you have to use to do this: options name manager, options value manager and Attributes Controller, all of them are located under Catalog (in the admin)

Thanks so much for the prompt response. I followed your instructions and worked like a charm. Well, almost.

How do I get the mounting price to change when the size changes. As it is now, customers can select size, finish and mounting, but the mounting and finish prices are the same for all sizes. Can't afford that :)

You can't. Zencart doesn't support one attribute changing depending on the selection of another.

I do a little of that sort of thing, and while foamcore isn't free, it isn't so expensive that you'd have a huge difference in cost betweeen an 8 X 10 and a 16 X 20. I would probably average the cost among the various sizes.

Failing that, you would need to set your attributes up differently, maybe:

    8 X 10 - $x
    8 X 10 mounted - $x+y

    etc.

Thanks a bunch for the reply. It's a bummer but I figured something like that. I've already thought of setting the attributes as you mention above. Fortunately, every 16x20 (my smallest size) mounted on foamcore is the same price, and so on for each size. So one set of attributes for each mounted size.

LOL...30x40 not counting the panos. I shoot cars at car shows and then create 'portraits' for the owner. Prices are cheap compared to what I used to charge for people photos. Here's a sample.

Digital, Canon 5D with the 17-40L. Great combo for this type work. If you like cars, check out my site at www.cruiseinpix.com. Click the 'artwork' tab to see more cars and the prices.
