    Default dev subdomain

    zc 1.3.9a (haven't had time for .9d yet)

    I've had zen cart running successfully. Typically found at foo.com. I wanted to set up a development site at dev.foo.com. The site & admin configure.php files have all been changed to point to dev.foo.com and the file paths reference the new physical locations.

    Everything works fine in dev both in http and https until I go to log in. If I click on login I get to dev.foo.com's login page - but all login links from the login page point to foo.com instead of dev.foo.com. I've only seen this on the login page - not yet anyplace else on the site. Admin seems to behave properly wrt staying in dev.foo.com.

    Any ideas?

    Only changes from reality:
    * foo replaces name of our domain / acct
    * login / pw type fields xxx'ed
    * admin folder is named differently

    compared to prod:
    * prod domain is foo.com instead of dev.foo.com
    * prod path is public_html instead of public_html_dev
    * prod db is foo_zenprod
    * dev site is secured by:

    AuthType Basic
    AuthName "public_html_dev"
    AuthUserFile "/home/foo/.htpasswds/public_html_dev/passwd"
    require valid-user

    I think that's it...

    well seeing you have SSL enabled, this will probably be where the problem exists, does your server share the same folder for SSL and Non SSL files?

    in your catalogue config
    define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://dev.foo.com');

    admin config
    define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://dev.foo.com');
    define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://dev.foo.com');
    define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/foo/public_html_dev/');

    because you have changed your details for the purposes of sending this, which i know would be a risk to send details, it doesn't show if you have made any mistakes, you need to make sure that all your paths to your folder are correct and also your URLs are correct too.

    on my server if i create a sub domain, my path changes /home/mydomain/subdomains/mydomain/public_html

    Yes. The main site does not have a secure_html folder or symlink or anything. One folder provides for both.

    I made the changes with search / replace to minimize these effects.

    My host allows me to define where the root of a subdomain is. Although it defaults to being under the main site, it can be changed.

    I'm having oher problems with my host (hostgator - blech) and this may be moot at this point.

    disable the use of SSL in your catalogue config

    // Use secure webserver for checkout procedure?
    define('ENABLE_SSL', 'false');

    clear your cache, then try and log in as a user (im assuming you are talking about login as a user and not the admin login)
    now see if stays on your development site
