    Default 1.3.8a admin error index.php line 23

Fresh install of 1.3.8a on a new server to be used for my sandbox before upgrading to 1.3.9d

    • Live site with the same, PCI compliant host (tvcnet)
    • No upgrades to initial install files. No customizations, etc.
    • Admin has not yet been renamed.
    • Consumer site opens without problems.
    • Wiped files and completed a 2nd install & receive the same error
    • If there is an answer in the forum, I didn't find it

No access to Admin due to the following error

Warning: require(includes/application_top.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/NAMEREMOVED/public_html/admin/index.php on line 23

Warning: require(includes/application_top.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/NAMEREMOVED/public_html/admin/index.php on line 23

TNX for any suggestions. I don't have enough hair left to pull out.

Triple check with FTP - that files do not indicate "0" byte size

Just checked. No files showing 0 bytes.

Winmerge \admin\index.php against install version = identical
Winmerge \includes\application_top.php against install version = identical

Check your admin index.php as it is the file that calls application_top

It is identical to the file included in the install package.

It's telling you that your /admin/includes/application_top.php is missing.

The message about index.php on line 23 is just WHERE the problem was encountered. THe problem is NOT in the index.php file. It's just the "messenger".

Dumb me. I wasn't looking for the file in the admin folder. I was verifying it in the store/includes folder.

Try as I may, I don't have the background to figure out why the application_top.php is not being generated during the install process. My previous installs have gone without a glitch

Well, it's not in the admin/includes either. My pea-brained logic says that the install process must create the file since it is not in the admin/includes install fileset.
    • Deleted all folders from the host server again.
    • Did not remove the database.
    • Upload the complete install package a 3rd time.
    • Same error

There was a notice on one screen during the install about php api mode - cgi-fcgi and that sometimes causing issues.

Any other suggestions? I could try an install elsewhere within the same hosts environment but I'd be dabbling within a live environment.

The file comes from the original Zen Cart distribution zip. It is not generated by the installer. You simply upload the supplied file using your FTP program, just like all the other Zen Cart core files.

    TNX Dr Byte

I looked at the zipped 12112007 fileset and it was missing a few of the admin files.

I unzipped a copy from a HD backup and moved all the admin files up and all appears well in the zen admin install world.

It would have been a while longer before I compared the original zipfiles for differences.

    TNX again

Note: Zen Cart v1.3.8 is old. You would be strongly advised to upgrade to the latest (ie: v1.3.9 as of today) to benefit from the security protections and bugfixes.
