Showing Subcategory photos on Main Category Page

Hi,

I'm new to the forum & zen cart. I just installed 1.3.9d about a week ago. I added the "column grid for product listings" module today. My husband has been customizing my site, mainly for the "look."

Here's my question: I have a category page called Belts. I want to have subcategories called: Painted Belts, Ribbon Belts, Cotton Belts etc. with images of each subcategory on the Belt Category page. Then, the customer would click the subcategory Painted Belts and go to another product listing page with images of all the available Painted Belts. The customer would choose the painted belt they want and be taken to the Product Info/Description page with all the details and ordering info.

I have been looking through the forums and FAQ for about 3 hours and haven't been able to figure out how to set up the category pages with the subcategory photos. I know how to set up the category page with the product images. Sorry if I missed it.

It looks as though you have achieved what your after with the Belts category.

You can edit the display columns in Zen cart admin.

There is also this mod for a column grid layout.

I did install the Column Grid Layout Add On, but it seems to only work on the Product Listing page. See Jewelry page:

The Grid Layout doesn't automaticall work on the Subcategory Listing Page. See Belts: http://www.elenihope.com/ehcart/inde...index&cPath=66

The Belts page displays the images in a single column with 3 vertical images, instead of a row with 3 images across; like the jewelry page. I have not had time to work on the coding yet to see if I can change the display of the images on the Belts page.

I'm just learning how to manipulate the CSS & PHP; so if you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. I haven't had any luck changing the display of the Belts page through the zencart admin. Am I missing something?

Hi,

I just found the answer to my dilemma of changing the category page layout in another part of the forum. There's a place to change the layout through the zen Cart Admin. I had no idea.

Admin>Configuration>Maximum Values>Categories To List Per Row> mine was set at 1. I changed it to 3.
