Default Virus in Download? According to McAfee SiteAdvisor

I am trying to download the 1.3.9 version of Zen Cart. I started at the Zen-Cart.com site. The download took me to Sourceforge.net. When I started my download my McAfee virus software came up with a warning that the download file contains potentially dangerous programs.

This is the second time I have tried to download Zen Cart 1.3.9. I originally downloaded it on another PC and I started setting up my site. But for some reason I can not access my site from that PC anymore. When I enter my site IP address I get redirected to a site called Sedoparking.com. The site is accessible from other PC's just not that one. My thinking was I would just work on my site from my other PC. But now I am thinking Zen Cart 1.3.9 has some kind of virus or malware or something. The first PC I downloaded to uses CA virus software not McAfee. Apparently that is why my original download did not get flagged as dangerous.

    Anyone else having similar problems.

The official Zen Cart download zips are hosted on SourceForge and do not contain any viruses, despite whatever McAffee might claim.

OK - so if I go a head and do the download and then I can't get to my site from my only remaining PC can I count on you DrByte to help me resolve my redirect issue - grin.

Any idea why I am having that problem on my other PC. The only site that I have that issue with is my new Zen Cart site. To me it has to be something in my Zen Cart code doing the redirect. But I don't understand why only that one PC is being redirected.

No disrespect, but that sounds like a problem on your PC, and not anything to do with uncustomized original Zen Cart code.

McAfee is a lousy AV program. And you have to pay for it to boot! There are plenty of great free alternatives.

I strongly suggest you check out Avira Antivir Free Anitvirus. I'm a reformed IT admin, and I use it on all my own personal systems. Totally free, you just have to close an ad after the daily update (a fair trade, IMO).

I always think I should duck when I recommend a Microsoft product, but if you use Windows, Microsoft Security Essentials does a good job for me (also free).

Someone else reported a problem with their website redirecting to sedoparking.com and it turned out to be a problem with their ISP, which was resolved by disconnecting their broadband from the mains power supply, shutting down their PC for 10 minutes and rebooting.

If however you are using Google links and those get redirected then your PC has a virus. You need to go here for how to fix it (first post):

My own PC had AVG Pro (latest Malware version) running, plus Windows Firewall, plus the router hardware firewall and this little sod still managed to get through everything. Following this advice killed it stone dead.

McAfee is reporting a problem, but the problem is at their end. It's a false positive and they're not responding very well to the problem (I don't think their support people really understand the concept of a release pack or a false positive - which is a bit worrying given the reliance that some of us place on it).

Not sure that they really understand service either from the experiences that I'm having trying to get information out of them about how to get this corrected in database - but that's a different story.

    Wow. Sloppy shoulders or what?

I've now had two McAfee service reps close the chat window while I was still typing into it. They don't answer direct questions and can't wait to get rid of this issue.
