Vacation setting

I am being shipped out of country for several weeks and want to put my store on hold while I am gone. There will be no one to process orders.. Is there a setting for this or do I just replace the index file in my store directory?

In Admin > Configuration > My Store set store status to showcase. this way your customers can browse but not buy. Then you could add something to your main page (like on vacation from .... to....)

For the message I use a banner, saying we are on vacation for a certain period.
