hello
just testing out our paypal payments. i setup ipn and i thin all is good. the order comes in the admin. im not sure if this is correct but once the payment has been recieve, shouldnt the admin be told and the order sent from pending to processing?
i get this idea from this partt of paypal in the admin area

Set Order Status
Set the status of orders made with this payment module that have completed payment to this value
('Processing' recommended)

i set it to processing. this is on zen 1.3.8

You should be using Express Checkout instead.
And you should be upgrading to the latest version of Zen Cart. Yours is very old.

The reason for using standard instead of express is the cost. Express is expensive, but is in the future plans.
anyways im i correct about the ipn notifying the back end that payment has gone through and to set it to processing?

Nonsense. Express Checkout and Website Payments Standard are exactly the same in terms of fees.

Yes, Standard is entirely dependent on back-end communication working reliably if you want to see orders in your store. Express doesn't have that limitation.

Actually you are correct thank you very much! I was looking at the compare payment solutions table on paypal website but i was looking at the wrong column. Thats great news, i am changing as we speak.
I would have never known, i looked at that table quite a few times.
