Large Attribute Images - do they cause any problems

Thank you in advance fr any guidance.
My store is hosted with lunarservers and we were suspended for a day due to ' excess cpu usage'. I don't want it to happen again and am looking into all things I can do.
My question is in regard to Attribute Images. One of my designers has added her additional product images as attributes. They are 600px images. Each product can have between 2 and even up to 10 images. We are using vers 1.3.8a with all updates.
I saw somewhere that having too many attributes can cause performance issues and wonder if having large images as attributes can cause any problems particularly in terms of performance and server load.

Before you ask yes she could use Imagehandler. She went ahead and set up her images this way as she prefers the large image to be visible to customers immediately.

Thank you for your response. What is the best way for me to optimize all images. I will go through and size down but any other suggestions on what I need to do would be greatly appreciated.

Lunarservers just sent me our usage from the last day that they have been monitoring and it is not good

I have removed the large images from my previous link. They were all around 300kb.
Any further information comments suggestions would be greatly appreciated however.
